Driver Enhancement Program

Overview

When we discuss Cognition, little do people realise that we require cognitive abilities and variables for us to drive safely and with purpose.

Cognition in driving requires the following skills:

  • Attention
  • Concentration
  • Peripheral Vision
  • Central Vision
  • Depth Perception
  • Goal Tasking
  • Multi-Tasking
  • Tracking
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Good vision

If any one or more of these variables are affected which can be due to cognitive decline, neurological impairment, or neurodivergent challenges – the ability of the Driver to real world conditions is directly impacted.  It is often determined that the lack of the above variables is the main cause of many accidents and incidents on the road, apart from excessive speeding and reckless driving.

The Directors at the Brain & Cognition Clinic (BCC) and Classic Cars and Coffee have joined their passions and developed the Driver Enhancement Program.  All of them are themselves directly invested in their own Cognition and Brain health and are active participants in the Brain & Cognition Clinic programs themselves as they aim towards Preventative Health.

Classic Cars & Coffee events here in Perth has been established for over 10 years and welcomed by enthusiasts of all interesting cars as the preferred kind of easy-going motoring event.

Their 2-hour event held monthly at the University of Western Australia (UWA) grounds, attracts a huge variety of cars and friendly owners in a completely relaxed atmosphere. They appreciate the passion of every car enthusiast, and they welcome all as visitors.

This Driver Enhancement Program will allow the Motorist to achieve:

  1. Reaction Time improvement.
  2. Better Eye Hand coordination.
  3. Increased multi-tasking skills.
  4. Improved depth perception.
  5. Better sequencing and categorization of tasks and processes.
  6. Faster speed outcomes.
  7. Safer judgement calls when driving and in their surroundings.
  8. Improved memory skills and abilities.

After all many of us care for our unique, prestige and classic cars and we should also be looking after ourselves as the driver through the Driver Enhancement Program here.
